WISE, VA - The football team fell to 1-1 overall after losing to UVA-Wise 54-20 this afternoon. The Braves accumulated 347 yards of offense but couldn't curtail the offensive effort from the Cavaliers as they gained 572 yards of total offense on the day. 

UVA-Wise took a 35-7 lead into the half and went on to score an additional 19 points in the game. Chowan scored 13 second half points on a Jack Ross 1 yard run and a Josh Floyd 55 yard score from quarterback Kevin Helmlinger. 

Floyd had a stellar day catching 7 passes for 161 yards and a touchdown. Taylor Furlough and Kevin Helmlinger combined efforts at the QB position throwing for 228 total yards. Jake Thorne led the ground attack for Chowan carrying the ball 6 times for 48 yards.

Sebastian Harrison paced the Braves on the defensive side of the ball with 9 tackles while Cody Brant had 8 tackles. 

Chowan will make their home season debut next Saturday when they host Ferrum College at 1:00pm.
