Box Score MURFREESBORO, NC - The Braves moved to 2-4 in the conference and 3-7 overall as they easily defeated Averett University with a final score of 48-0 in the 2001 Hall of Fame/Senior Day Game. The Braves defense stifled Averett's offensive attack by holding the Cougars to a mere 145 yards of total offense.The Braves amassed 414 yards of total offense, 308 of which came on the ground. Junoir Tailback Jawarren Cowles became the first tailback in Chowan four-year history to gain 1000 yards on the ground after rushing for 153 yards on 39 carries. Cowles hit the paydirt four times in the win this afternoon. QB Chris Stodghill rushed for 106 on 11 carries while passing for 91 yards on 7 of 13 completions. Fullback Charles Scott scored twice in the win for the Braves. Tightend Jerry Nettles caught 3 passes for 32 yards while Brian Harvell had 2 catches for 23 yards.The Braves defense picked Averett's quarterback off four times, John Willis getting two of those and teammates Shane Troxler and Terrance Saxby getting one apiece. Saxby had 8 tackles on the day while teammate Andre Snape had 6 total tackles.
