Box Score Quarterback Jason Visconti passed for 264 yards and four touchdowns and free safety Andre Summers blocked two punts as Wesley College (6-3, 4-1 ACFC) won its fourth consecutive game, defeating Chowan 40-14.
Nine minutes into the game, Visconti found Robert Carrouthers on a 13-yard scoring pass. Then at the 4:55 mark of the first quarter, Visconti hit Keenan Wright on a 46-yard scoring pass to give the Wolverines 14-0 lead.
Senior place kicker Chris Becker booted a 39-yard field goal in the second quarter to give the Wolverines a 17-0 half time advantage. Becker, who totaled eight points became the school's all-time leader in career kicking points with 144.
Chowan (4-4, 2-4) got on the board early in the third quarter when Timmy Carter ran in from two yards, to cut the deficit to 10. Wesley would answer nearly a minute later when Visconti hit wideout Vandrick Hamlin on a 36-yard touchdown pass. Hamlin led Wesley receivers with four catches for 76 yards.
From there, the Wolverines would add a safety and a seven-yard Jabbar Truitt scoring run in the third quarter to give Wesley a 33-7 lead.
Tight end Shawn Plews capped Wesley scoring by catching a 21-yard scoring pass early in the fourth. Travis Stanley scored on a six-yard pass from Doug Leary with 7:50 remaining in the game for Chowan. Leary was 9-for-21 for 113 yards on the day.
Summers, a junior free safety, recorded 10 tackles and recovered a fumble. Summers also blocked two punts that led to scores for Wesley. Summers, who ranked 12th in D-III in kickoff return average, added two kick returns for 69 yards, including a 49-yarder. Wesley cornerback Donte Walker added five tackles, a pass deflection and an interception.
