Alisha Harvey scored 13 points and Nicole Mehalick added 12 as Chowan (2-0) defeated Bennett 58-48 in the championship game of the Mary Baldwin Torunament.

Josette Beasley added eight points while Lachelle Waller contributed seven points and nine rebounds for the Braves, who captured their first tournament championship as a four-year school.

In the opening round game on Friday night, Chowan routed Mary Baldwin, 104-69. Waller led the way with 16 points and 22 rebounds. Also scoring in double figures for the Braves were Beasley (18), Mehalick (17), Amber Powers (14) and Patrese Jarrell (10).

The Braves are in action again next weekend when they travel to the Greensboro College Tournament.
