MURFREESBORO - The Lady Braves of Chowan College won their fourth soccer match of the season here Thursday with a 1-0 shutout of visiting Mt. Olive.
The lone goal of the match came at the 17 minute mark of the second half on an unassisted break-away by Monica Jackson.
Goal-keeper Marie Legg sparked the shutout effort as she stopped each of Mt. Olive's seven shots.
Chowan, whose record now stands at 4-8. suffered a razor-close loss earlier in the week at Randolph Macon College where the Lady Braves dropped a 3-2 decision.
Trailing 1-0 at halftime, Chowan grabbed a 2-1 lead over an eight-minute span of the second half thanks to a pair of goals by Jackson.
Katerina Sideris assisted on both goals.
Randolph Macon rallied to tie the contest before scoring the game-winning goal with one minute remaining.
The Lady Braves will host Ferrum College today (Saturday) at 11 a.m.
That match will be followed by a 1 p.m. men's matchup between the same two teams.
