Mary Harris joins the Chowan University Athletic Administration as the newly appointed Athletics Business Coordinator, bringing more than 33 years of experience at Chowan University to the department.
Harris has spent her career at Chowan serving the university in several capacities, including roles within Admissions and the Business Office. Most recently, she served as Administrative Assistant to the Vice President for Business Affairs, helping provide day-to-day office coordination and support for the university's business operations.
Throughout her more than three decades at Chowan, Harris has also been a longtime supporter of Chowan Athletics. A familiar face at Hawks athletic events, she regularly attends games and continues to support Chowan from afar when the Hawks are on the road. Her dedication to Chowan Athletics dates back many years, with the department recognizing her as a longtime supporter of the Hawks as early as 2011.
“We are excited that Mary decided to come over and work with us in Athletics,” said Director of Athletics Rob Burke. “She was willing to take on this new role, and we are more than happy to have her. The years of experience she brings from working at Chowan and in the Business Office will be a tremendous asset to our department.”
As Athletics Business Coordinator, Harris will assist with the day-to-day business operations of the department and serve as a liaison between Chowan Athletics and the university's Business Office. Her responsibilities will include managing van return forms, processing requisitions and assisting with other business and administrative needs throughout the department.
Harris' move to Athletics brings together her extensive knowledge of Chowan's business operations and her longstanding support of the Hawks as she begins a new chapter in her more than 33 years of service to the university.
