Chowan University Athletics

Lisa Bland enters her 22nd year with the Chowan and tenth as the Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Medicine.  Bland spent the previous seven years as the Director of Sports Medicine (2009-16).

Bland started her career at Chowan shortly after her graduation from then, Chowan College, in May of 2004.  She served as an assistant athletic trainer from 2004-2009 before being promoted to Director of Sports Medicine in 2009.

She is no stranger to Chowan University or the athletic department.  Bland was a four-year member of the Chowan Women's Soccer team before her graduation in 2004.  The Chesapeake, Va. native earned a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education with a specialization in Sports Medicine, while graduating with honors.

Bland is nationally certified through the Board of Certification and state licensed through the North Carolina Board of Athletic Trainers Examiners. She received her M.A. in Health Studies and Education from the University of Alabama in December of 2009. She is also an adjunct instructor in the SSPE Department. She stays busy throughout the year between her work at Chowan University and working various sports camps in the region. 

As a result of her efforts, Bland was named the 2013-2014 Female Staff Member of the Year at Chowan. She resides in Murfreesboro, N.C.
