Keisha Gills

Keisha Gills officially took the helm as Chowan’s Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach on May 1, 2026. Gills has expressed her immense excitement to begin working with the student-athletes and building the future of the program. She joins the Hawks after a successful tenure at the University of the District of Columbia, where she served as the Assistant Women’s Lacrosse Coach since 2021. During her time with the Firebirds, Gills was instrumental in collaborating with the Head Coach to execute practice sessions and game strategies while leading player development programs. She played a key role in the program’s growth by identifying and evaluating prospective student-athletes for recruitment and providing dedicated mentorship to foster their personal and athletic success.

Beyond the collegiate sidelines, Gills has demonstrated strong leadership as a Site Director for MoCo Lacrosse in Montgomery County, Maryland, where she managed a staff of 5–8 counselors and implemented engaging drills and games. She also worked with WINNERS Lacrosse, a non-profit organization dedicated to serving youth in Washington, D.C., and served as the Head Coach for Bethesda Lacrosse’s 2030 team in 2023. Additionally, Gills served as the Member Experience Coordinator at the Dominique Dawes Gymnastics and Ninja Academy in Silver Spring, Maryland, overseeing customer service operations to ensure a positive journey for all members.

Before her professional career, Gills graduated from William Peace University in Raleigh, North Carolina, in 2019 with a degree in Liberal Studies. During her time as a Pacer, she was a member of the women's lacrosse program, competing as an attacker. Gills brings a wealth of lacrosse experience alongside a strong work ethic to the Chowan women's lacrosse program as she strives to develop her student-athletes both on and off the field.
