The Chowan University Athletic Department is excited to welcome new Assistant Athletic Trainer, Caleb Strother, who enters his first year as a member of the Hawks Athletic Training Staff. Strother joins the program with over a decade of experience in collegiate sports medicine.
Strother comes to Chowan after serving at Young Harris College (Ga.) as Assistant Athletic Director and Head Athletic Trainer. Before his tenure at Young Harris, Strother worked at Mars Hill University (N.C.) from 2014–2025 as an Associate Athletic Trainer and Drug Education and Screening Coordinator. While at Mars Hill, he was instrumental in coordinating NCAA drug testing, managing supply operations, and providing coverage across multiple sports programs.
Strother began his professional career at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke (2012–2014), where he served as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer for football, baseball, and the spirit squad.
He earned his Master of Arts in Physical Education with a concentration in Exercise/Sports Administration from UNC Pembroke in 2014. Prior to that, Strother completed his undergraduate studies at Barton College, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training and Fitness Management in 2012.
