Evann Carpenter enters his seventh year as Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communications.
Carpenter serves as the liaison between the Hawks coaches and players and the media. He oversees home statistics, photography, press releases and website material pertaining to Chowan Athletics. Carpenter maintains GoCUHawks.com and all Chowan Athletics social media sites.
During his time at Chowan, Evann has promoted 20 All-Americans, seven CSC Academic All-Americans, four conference Coach of the Year, 16 Conference Player of the Year, four Conference Scholar Athletes of the Year, two Conference Pitcher of the Year, 11 Conference Rookie/Freshman of the Year, over 200 All-Conference, over 50 All-Region, and numerous Academic All-Conference selections.
Chowan’s athletic teams have earned four regular season conference titles, four conference tournament titles, and four NCAA Tournament bids.
Carpenter returns to Chowan after spending three years as the first full-time Sports Information Director at Converse College in Spartanburg, S.C. While at Converse, he successfully promoted 30 All-Conference Carolinas selections, numerous academic award winners, Conference Carolinas Soccer Coach of the Year, Conference Carolinas Golfer of the Year, Conference Carolinas Freshman Golfer of the Year, Conference Carolinas Golf Most Valuable Player, Conference Carolinas Runner of the Year and two USTFCCA Academic All-Americans.
Prior to Converse, Carpenter served as a Media Relations Assistant at Division I Charlotte. While at Charlotte, he served as the primary contact for the men’s and women’s cross country/track and field programs and softball. He served as a secondary contact with the 49er soccer and basketball program while assisting in the inaugural football season.
He served as the official scorer and primary contact during the 2013 Conference USA Men’s Soccer Championship and NCAA Men’s Soccer Tournament Second Round game.
The Concord, N.C. native graduated from Chowan University in 2013, earning a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education with a concentration in Sport Management, while graduating with honors.
Evann is a member of College Sports Communicators (CSC), Football Writers Association of America (FWAA), U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA), National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA), and North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA).
Evann is married to Ashley Carpenter, also a Chowan graduate ('14 and '23). The two reside in Rich Square, N.C. with their son, Deklynn.
