Andrew Sparano enters his first season as Offensive Line Coach for the Hawks for the 2022 season.
Sparano comes to Chowan after spending the previous five seasons as the Offensive Coordinator at Feather River College (CCCAA). During his time with the Golden Eagles, Sparano helped improve the team from an 0-10 overall record in 2016 averaging 234.4 yards of total offense to a 10-0 overall record in 2021 averaging 439.3 yards of total offense and 40.1 points per game.
During the 2021 season, the Golden Eagles posted an undefeated season going 10-0 and claiming the NCFC American Championship, while ranking 21st in the CCCAA. Sparano coached the Offensive Line and Quarterback positions.
Prior to his tenure with FSC, Sparano followed current FSC Head Coach, Nick Goulet, from Chabot College (CCCAA). During his three year stint at Chabot as the Offensive Line coach, the Gladiators picked up back-to-back league championships in 2014 and 2015. Sparano coached seven players to All-Conference selections and one All-State selection. Under Sparano, the offensive line paved the way, leading the state in rushing yards (2761) and rushing TD (46) in 2015 while going 9-3 on the season. In the NorCal Semifinals against College of San Mateo, the Gladiators rushed for a NorCal Playoff record 418 yards. During the 2014 season, the Gladiators rushed for a program best 480 yards against San Joaquin Delta.
Prior to Chabot, Sparano spent the 2013 season at New Haven as the Running Backs coach. That season, Mike Decaro was named First Team All-Northeast 10, All-Region Second Team and Beyond Sports Network All-American Honorable Mention.
Sparano started his collegiate coaching career at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2011. He served as the Tight End and Offensive Line coach for two seasons.
The Colleyville, Texas native played collegiately at Albany for four years on the offensive line. During his career with the Great Danes, Sparano and company led the team to back-to-back NEC Conference Championships in 2007 and 2008 along with the Gridiron Championship in 2008.Â
The Sparano coaching tree is extensive as his father, Tony Sparano Sr., served as an assistant coach in the NFL for numerous teams. Most notably, Sparano was the Head Coach for the Miami Dolphins from 2008-2011. Sparano most recently worked with the Minnesota Vikings in 2017. His brother Tony Jr. is an assistant coach in the NFL after being on staff of the Buffalo Bills, Jacksonville Jaguars, Carolina Panthers, and New York Giants.
