MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Conference Carolinas office announced its Week One Football Players of the Week on Monday afternoon, with Chowan football's Riley Swanson earning Special Teams Player of the Week honors.

The freshman kicker has made an immediate impact through the first two games of his collegiate career. The Port St. Lucie, Fla., native has been perfect on his kicking attempts, connecting on both of his field-goal attempts and all six of his extra-point attempts.

Swanson made his collegiate debut against West Virginia State, connecting on a 47-yard field goal to tie the Chowan program record for the longest successful field goal, a mark that had stood for five years. He also converted all three of his PAT attempts while recording three kickoffs for 174 yards.

Against UVA Wise, Swanson continued his strong start by connecting on a 33-yard field goal and converting all three of his extra-point attempts. He also recorded five kickoffs for 285 yards, averaging 57.0 yards per kickoff.

Through two games, Swanson is 2-for-2 on field goals and 6-for-6 on PATs while averaging 57.4 yards on eight kickoffs.
