Camargo Ties Single-Game Goals Record as Hawks Power Past Tampa 5-1

TAMPA, FL – The Chowan University men's soccer team put together a commanding offensive performance on Wednesday evening, scoring five goals to secure a 5-1 non-conference victory over the University of Tampa at Pepin Stadium.

Freshman Andre Camargo delivered a record-tying performance for the Hawks, scoring Chowan's first four goals of the night to tie the program record for goals in a single game. Camargo wasted no time getting the Hawks on the board, finding the back of the net just 46 seconds into the match off an assist from Clayton Verdin.

Camargo struck again in the 16th minute to give Chowan a 2-0 advantage. Tampa cut the lead to 2-1 just before halftime, but the Hawks quickly regained control coming out of the break.

Camargo completed the hat trick in the 49th minute off an assist from Owen Sweeney before finding the back of the net again less than two minutes later off a feed from Henry Kohel. His fourth goal gave Chowan a 4-1 advantage and tied the single-game program record originally set by Francisco Ferris against Ohio Valley in 2014.

Fernando Hernandez added the final goal of the night in the 80th minute, connecting off Kohel's second assist of the match to seal the 5-1 victory.

The win marked Chowan's fifth of the season and extended the Hawks' winning streak to three matches.
