MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan University men's soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw against non-conference opponent Emory & Henry University Tuesday afternoon at Hawks Soccer Field. The Wasps struck first in the opening half, but the Hawks responded early in the second half to level the match and secure the draw.
Freshman Tomas Alvarez put Chowan on the scoreboard in the 55th minute, scoring his first collegiate goal after receiving a pass from sophomore transfer Sean Jacobs.

Alvarez finished the match with one goal and one shot, while Jacobs recorded the assist on the equalizer.
Ken Natio led the Hawks with two shots, including one on goal, while Robbie Deighan added two shots. Clay Verdin and Luke Wilson each recorded a shot and a shot on goal, with Andre Camargo adding one shot.
Lucas Kibrya played all 90 minutes in goal for Chowan, recording seven saves to bring his season total to 29 saves.
