HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Chowan women's soccer team opened the 2026 season on the road Thursday evening, taking on non-conference opponent Coker University. After a scoreless first half, the Cobras broke through early in the second half to take the lead. Sophomore Amy Cotton would get the Hawks on the board with Chowan's first goal of the season, converting a penalty kick. The game would conclude with a 5-1 score in favor of the Cobras.

Cotton led the Hawks offensively, recording a shot and a shot on goal in the match. Ellis Baxter added two shots, including one on goal, while Addisen Palmer recorded a shot on goal. Takiyah Raynor and Meah Cuddihy each added a shot to round out Chowan's offensive attack.
The goalkeeping duties were split between Kylee Smith and Madison Richardson. Smith played the first 60 minutes of the match and recorded one save, while Richardson played the final 30 minutes and also collected a save.
