MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. - The Chowan University women's flag football team competed in a neutral-site conference matchup against Emmanuel College on Thursday afternoon, hosted by Mount Olive. The Hawks found the end zone late in the fourth quarter as Nevaeh Higdon connected with Zyian Heyligar for a touchdown with 6:50 remaining. Chowan fell to the Lions, moving to 1-7 overall and 0-4 in conference play.

Higdon finished 19-35 passing for 128 yards and a touchdown. Kiara Arguello led the offense with 64 receiving yards on four catches and added 16 rushing yards, highlighted by a 52-yard run. Adriana Lightfoot contributed 32 receiving yards, while Heyligar totaled 15 yards, including the Hawks' lone touchdown reception.
Defensively, Heyligar led the way with 11 tackles (10 solo), followed by Janaya Perry with nine solo stops. Lightfoot added six tackles (five solo) and recorded a 12-yard interception return, while Maya James also picked off a pass and returned it for four yards. Kiara Lopez, Dusabe Uwera, and Arguello each tallied two tackles, with Tara Darden and James adding one apiece. Perry also handled punting duties, averaging 25.3 yards across three punts.
