MUFREESBORO, N.C.- The Chowan University women's flag football team made history on Saturday, opening their inaugural season at home with matchups against Lindsey Wilson and Winston-Salem State University. These young ladies became the first to represent Chowan in the program's history, marking a milestone for the university.

Chowan's quarterback duties were shared between Neveah Higdon and Kiara Arguello. Higdon threw for 108 total passing yards, while Arguello added 86 yards through the air.
On the receiving end, Adriana Lightfoot totaled 36 yards in the first game, with a long reception of 12 yards. She elevated her performance in the second game, recording 57 receiving yards with a long of 20. Janaya Perry contributed 14 yards against the Blue Raiders, including a 12-yard reception, and added 50 yards with a 44-yard touchdown against the Rams.
Defensively, Lightfoot led the charge with six solo tackles and seven yards in the first game, then tallied 15 tackles in the second contest, including a sack and three tackles for loss. Perry added five tackles overall, collecting a sack for 11 yards and another tackle for loss. Zyian Heyligar stood out in the second game, recording 10 tackles, while Arguello contributed seven. Tanaezja Hill and Neveah Higdon each added three tackles, and Shatavia Brooks sealed the defensive effort with an interception against Winston-Salem State.
