MURFREESBORO, N.C. – Following week four of competition, Conference Carolinas announced its Women's Soccer Players of the Week on Tuesday morning, with Chowan earning recognition after two impressive shutout victories over Mount Olive (4-0) and Ferrum College (1-0). The Hawks wins last week improved their conference record to 3-2.
Midfielder Laura Hulme was honored for her outstanding performance, receiving Offensive Player of the Week accolades. The Defensive Player of the Week award was claimed by Mount Olive.

Hulme played a key role in Chowan's two victories last week, accounting for two goals. She scored late penalty kick in the win over Mount Olive and later netted the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Ferrum. Hulme leads the Hawks this season with five goals and 10 shots on goal.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Grabeel posted two more shutouts last week, extending her scoreless streak to 374:15 in goal. She posted two saves in a 1-0 Patriot road win over 23rd-ranked Lenoir-Rhyne, including a point-bank stop late in the first half. Her other save came in the 75th minute to preserve the save. She then posted one save in a 1-0 Conference Carolinas win over Converse. Her five shutouts rank second nationally, and she now has eight complete-match shutouts in her two-year stint with the Patriots.
