CU Women’s Soccer Concludes Season in OT at Conference Carolinas Opener

MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan University women's soccer team closed out the 2025 season in the opening round of the Conference Carolinas Championship against Ferrum University. The Hawks and Panthers were tied 2-2 at the end of regulation, sending the match into a 10-minute overtime period. Ferrum found the back of the net in extra time under the golden goal rule to take the 3-2 final.

With the result, the Hawks conclude the season with an overall record of 7-9-1 and a 7-6-1 mark in Conference Carolinas play.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE

MURFREESBORO, N.C. – In the opening half, Chowan put up three shot attempts, including one on target, while Ferrum found the back of the net at 36:46 to take a 1-0 lead heading into the half.

The Hawks responded at 60:37 when Riley Donnelly found the back of the net off a pass from Amy Cotton to even the score. Just three minutes later, Ferrum reclaimed the lead, but Laura Hulme answered for Chowan at 69:40, converting on an assist from both Donnelly and Cotton to make it 2-2. The two sides traded chances down the stretch, sending the contest into overtime, where Ferrum netted the game-winner three minutes in under the golden goal rule.

Offensively, Amy Cotton and Lily Harrison each recorded three shots, including one on goal. Adrianna Lightfoot and Hulme contributed two shots apiece, both on target, while Donnelly and Zuhailee Rivera each tallied two shots with one on frame. Takiyah Raynor made her first appearance of the season after returning from injury, registering a shot on goal.

In goal, Gracie Ross played the full 92:54, collecting four saves in the effort.
