PETERSBURG, VA. – The Chowan University women's soccer team came up short in a non-conference matchup against Virginia State University on Saturday afternoon. After a scoreless first half, the Trojans broke through with a goal in the second period, and the Hawks were unable to respond. Despite the result, Chowan put together an aggressive offensive performance, outshooting the Trojans 20-7 with 10 shots on goal to Virginia State's four. With Saturday's setback, the Hawks move to 4-5-1 overall, while the Trojans improve to 2-6-0 on the season.

Amy Cotton led the offensive charge for the Hawks, recording seven shots, including four on goal. Riley Donnelly added three shots with two on target, while Abigail Simon and Laura Hulme each contributed two shots, one of which was on goal. Jayda Dubeck finished the afternoon with two shots—both on goal—while Lily Harrison, Addisen Palmer, and Adriana Lightfoot each added a shot to round out the balanced attack.
In goal, Kylee Smith started for the Hawks, playing 66 minutes and tallying three saves. Gracie Ross came in for the final 24 minutes to close out the match and help anchor the defense.
