CU Women's Soccer Does Battle with Bobcats but Falls in Season Debut

SALISBURY, N.C. – The Chowan Women's Soccer team made their 2024 season debut with a tough 2-1 loss to Georgia College and State University on Friday night in the Catawba College Invitational on Friday. Georgia College and State University moved to 1-0 on the year after today's season opening match. The Hawks fall to 0-1 after the match.

After playing to a 0-0 first half, the Hawks landed on the scoreboard first when Abigail Simon made good on a penalty kick in the 66th minute. Georgia College and State University answered with a goal of their own when Ali Amorozowicz connected with Morgan Amrozowicz nearly nine minutes later. Aralyn Everett iced the game for the GSCU in the 81st minute.
Chowan tallied seven shots on goal and 13 shots in the match while GCSU posted 8 shots on frame and 23 total shots. Lily Harrison paced the Hawks with 5 total shots.
Kris Peterson tallied 6 stops in the goal for the Hawks.
