CU Volleyball Opens Season with Loss to Newberry

MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan University Volleyball team opened their 2024 season with a 3-0 loss to Newberry College in day one play of the Chowan University Volleyball Invitational on Friday night. The Hawks rallied in the third set after settling into play, but still fell short in their 2024 season debut.

Lorelai Hill tallied 5 kills to lead the Hawks offensively. Jada Caruthers and Alexa Wasil each contributed 4 kills in the match. Wasil tallied 6 digs to go with her 4 kills. Sydney Ginaitt posted 13 assists.
Chowan tallied 20 team kills to Newberry's 29 but made 28 attack errors over three sets of play.
UP NEXT
Chowan continues play with day two of the invitational on Saturday, September 9th. The Hawks will take on Lincoln-Memorial University at 11:00am and wrap up day two play with Elizabeth City State University at 1:00pm. Tournament play opens with Newberry College and Lincoln-Memorial at 9:00am.
