BANNER ELK, N.C. - The Chowan University Men's Soccer program played to a 0-0 draw in their first match of the 2024 season. CU's Charley Leech narrowly missed the game winner with a loaded shot from the top of the box which was just outside the frame in the final minute of regulation.
The Hawks were fouled in the 89th minute of play at the top of the box. This foul set up Leech's shot off a free kick but it missed just left of the frame. The Hawks garnered 11 corner kicks in the match, but couldn't convert to break the score.
CU's keeper, Chase Jansen, and the Hawks back line put up a valiant effort to keep the Bobcats out of goal late in the match. Jansen had two of his five total stops in goal in the final five minutes of play. Jansen put up two spectacular saves in the final minutes of play to ensure the draw for the Hawks.

Chowan led the way with 12 total shots in the match, with four of them on frame. Less-McRae got off just six shots in the match, five of which were on goal. Bradley Binns, Harry Baker, and Charley Leech each got off three shots in the draw.
