MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Women's Lacrosse team picked up a rare three-quarter victory as the Hawks rallied for the 11-9 win against Southern Wesleyan in a rain-shortened Conference Carolinas contest on Saturday.

The contest was called after the buzzer in the third quarter as field conditions by the ongoing rain had deteriorated enough to make the field unplayable.
Chowan rallied for six goals in the third quarter to take the victory as the Hawks trailed 8-5 at the intermission.
Grace Taylor led the Hawks with four goals, while Victoria Brown posted three goals. Charity Brown added two goals with Blake Tutman posting one goal and one assist. Gracie Timken collected one goal.
Grace Taylor picked up seven ground balls, while Blake Tutman posted five ground balls, five draw controls and three caused turnovers. Gracie Timken added five draw controls.
The weather made things difficult on both sides as both sides completed close to 50% on clears leading to a combined 48 turnovers.

Chowan returns to the field on March 16 as the Hawks travel to Belmont Abbey to compete against the Crusaders in Conference Carolinas action. Opening draw control is slated for 1pm.
