MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan football team suffered a tough 54-9 loss against Delta State University on Saturday evening. With this loss, Chowan's record drops to 1-3 for the season, while Delta State improves to 4-1.

The Hawks posted 281 yards of total offense in the loss. The Hawks' Matthew Conord successfully converted a 30-yard field goal for Chowan in the 2nd quarter to get on the board, 3-14. In the fourth quarter, Romeo Felton scored a 1-yard rushing touchdown for Chowan.Â
