MURFREESBORO, N.C. - The Chowan University men's soccer team improved to 4-4-2 overall and 3-2-1 in Conference Carolinas play after a dominant 3-0 home win over conference rivals Barton College on Saturday afternoon. Barton fell to 6-2 overall and 3-2 in league play after Saturday's match.

The Hawks were dominant from start to finish in Saturday's conference win over Barton. The Hawks tallied 16 shots in the match while holding Barton to 6 shots over 90 minutes. Robbie Deighan picked up his 1st season goal after getting the Hawks on the board first in the match. Deighan beat Barton's keeper after Sam Deacon set him up for a 1-0 lead in the 12th minute. Junior Smith found the back of the net in the 38th minute to give the Hawks a 2-0 lead heading into the halftime period. Hlynur Fridriksson added the Hawks 3rd goal of the match with a hard shot far post after Abdoulie Sanneh sent the ball into the box to an open Fridriksson.
CU's Chase Jansen picked up the shut out in goal. Jansen posted one save in the win. Chowan's defense accounted for a team save in the win.
