MURFREESBORO, N.C. - The Chowan Football team dropped a non-conference contest to nationally-ranked Benedict on a wet and muddy afternoon in Murfreesboro on Saturday.

Chowan struggled to find offense recording a season-low 104 yards of total offense. The Hawks produced 10 first downs with three coming on penalties.
Evan McGhee tallied nine tackles, followed by Abdural Lee and Dwayne Smith eight eight tackles each. Jayshaun Alston posted 2.0 TFLS and a forced fumble.
Nic Wilson registered his second interception of the season.
Jose Colunga recorded the lone points for the Hawks on a 28-yd field goal. Patric Talbot posted a 38.8 punt average.
Chowan recovered an on-side kick to open the contest.
