MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Women's Lacrosse team could not overcome a slow start in the 18-12 decision against Converse in the Conference Carolinas opener on Saturday at home.

Victoria Brown led the Hawks with a four-goal outing. Grace Taylor notched her third hat-trick of the season.
Cameryn Brown collected two goals, while Naila Smith, Trinity Walker, and Sarai Reyes-Roman added one goal each. Smith tallied an assist.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Converse scored the opening two goals of the contest before Cameryn Barrow put the Hawks on the board. Victoria Brown would find the back of the net off an assist from Naila Smith to even the score at 2-all.
The Valkyries scored six unanswered goals to lead 8-2 before the Hawks rallied. Sarai Reyes-Roman, Grace Taylor and Naila Smith scored unassisted goals to cut the deficit to 8-5.
Converse answered with six goals to lead 14-5 at the intermission.
Grace Taylor collected a goal before Victoria Brown added a free-position goal to trail 17-7.
Victoria Brown opened the fourth quarter with a pair of goals followed by a goal from Grace Taylor. Trinity Walker and Cameryn Barrow scored on free-positions before time expired.

Chowan hosts Edinboro on Tuesday, March 7 for a non-conference contest. Opening draw control is slated for 1pm.
