MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Women's Soccer team shutout the high-powered offense of UNC Pembroke in the second half as the Braves took the victory 2-0 in Conference Carolinas action on Tuesday afternoon.

Kirsten Peterson recorded 11 saves in goal during 68:34 of game time in goal.
Chowan tallied five shots on the day with three being on target. Destiny Makanjuola, Regan Jackson, and Natasha Bailey posted shots on frame. The Braves recorded 18 shots on goal in the contest.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half:
UNC Pembroke started off with the opening shot of the contest just 86 seconds into the match. The Hawks would respond with three corner kicks in the first three minutes but was unable to get a shot off.
Regan Jackson sent the first shot towards goal in the 14' but was turned away.
The Braves would find the back of the net in the 27' off a corner kick as the cross into the box found an unmarked Brave on the far post for the 1-0 lead.
UNCP added a goal in the 37' as a ball from the backline missed the head of a Chowan defender and found the foot of a streaking Brave for the 2-0 lead.
Second Half:
Natasha Bailey ripped a curling shot towards goal in the opening minutes of the half that was corralled by the UNCP keeper.
In the 71', Destiny Makanjuola recorded a shot on goal that required a save.
Kirsten Peterson and Allison Traub kept the Braves off the scoreboard in the second half.
