Chowan Picks Up Road Win Against Emmanuel

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA. – The Chowan Men's Soccer returned to the win column after a strong performance against Emmanuel in league play on Saturday.

Tren Drexhage connected for his fifth goal of the season, while James Randall netted his first.

Harri Lovett and Leke Ademola notched assists on the afternoon.

Charlie Farrar made four saves on the day allowing one goal on a penalty kick.

HOW IT HAPPENED

First Half:

Dennis Bates and Bradley Binns recorded the opening shots of the contest in the 15' and 17' but both attempts sailed high.

In the 22', Harri Lovett would find Tren Drexhage off a throw in to put the Hawks on the board.

The Chowan defense held Emmanuel without a shot until the 40' as the attempt off a free kick would miss high.

The Hawks would take a 1-0 advantage into the halftime whistle.

Second Half:

London Williams nearly made it 2-0 in the 47' as his attempt low was saved.  Charlie Farrar made a pair of saves in the 51' to keep the Lions off the board.  Leke Ademola recorded a shot in the 53' that was turned away.

The Lions looked for the equalizer in the 56' as Charlie Farrar made the save.  Emmanuel would hit the post in the 59'.

Bradley Binns had his shot blocked off a corner kick in the 62' and 64'.  Emmanuel responded with a shot in the 65' that Charlie Farrar made a save to his right.

In the 72', Leke Ademola found find James Randall in space to give the Hawks an insurance goal as Randall found the lower left corner.

The Hawks looked to cruise to the end of the match until a red card was shown in the final seconds that granted Emmanuel a penalty kick.  The Lions converted the PK to break up the shutout with five seconds remaining.

UP NEXT

Chowan will make the trip to Florence, S.C. on September 28 to take on the 2021 Conference Carolinas Regular Season Champions in a rematch of the league finals.  First touch is slated for 7pm.
