MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Men's Soccer streak of consecutive appearances in the Conference Carolinas Semifinals ended at five as Emmanuel advanced on penalty kicks following a 1-1 draw in the league's quarterfinals on Saturday.

James Randall collected his fifth goal of the season. Dennis Bates added an assist. Charlie Farrar tallied six saves.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half:
The match got chippy quick as Emmanuel was shown a yellow card just 16 seconds in. The Hawks would take advantage as Dennis Bates played a through ball up the left side of the pitch to find James Randall. Randall would take a touch and find the far post to put the Hawks up 1-0 in the 10'.
Tren Drexhage and Leke Ademola tried to put the Hawks up another goal as their shot attempts were denied.
The Lions found the Hawks on their back foot in the 33' as a breakaway found the back of the net for the equalizer.
Second Half:
Chowan posted two shots on frame in the second half as both of the attempts by Dennis Bates would be saved. Bradley Binns had an attempt in the 73' sail to the right on a wide open goal attempt.
Overtime:
Emmanuel had a shot attempt blocked in the first overtime period and two shots saved in the second as the Hawks did not record a shot in the extra time.
