Hawks Run Out Of Gas Against Bulldogs

WILSON, N.C. – The Chowan Women's Lacrosse team was unable to continue the stride-for-stride attack against Barton in the Conference Carolinas Women's Lacrosse Championship Quarterfinals on Tuesday as the Hawks fell 18-8.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE

Brooke Woods-Pennell registered her second straight hat-trick with a three goal outing.  Grace Taylor and Leia Cabradillia chipped in with two goals each.  Taylor added an assist while Charity Brown tallied a goal and two assists.

Mallory Dunker registered a season-high 16 saves in goal.  Dunker finished with 312 saves in her career, seven shy of the program leader.

HOW IT HAPPENED

First Half:

Barton would open the scoring in the 8' before Brooke Woods-Pennell continued her scoring ways finding the back of the net off an assist from Charity Brown.

Just over a minute later, Leia Cabradillia scored on a woman-up free position shot to take a 2-1 lead.

The Bulldogs would regain the lead with a pair of goals before Brooke Woods-Pennell scored an unassisted goal.

The back-and-forth affair would continue as Grace Taylor evened the score with an unassisted goal.  Charity Brown would give the Hawks a 5-4 lead in the 21' as Brown won the draw control and raced down to score a goal.

Barton would gain the momentum scoring five straight goals to lead 9-5 at the half.  Leia Cabradillia tried to slow the run with a free positon shot, but was saved.

Second Half:

Barton added two more goals to their total to start the second half before Grace Taylor found Leia Cabradillia for a goal.

The Bulldogs would go on a five goal run to push their advantage to 16-6.  Grace Taylor slowed the run with an unassisted goal.

Brooke Woods-Pennell found the back of the net before the clock expired off an assist from Charity Brown to close out the scoring.
