HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half:
Chowan continued to dominate the week as the Hawks scored a goal for the second time in the first five minutes of play as Sierra Gonzalez scored off a free kick that bounced off the keeper's hands into the side netting on the far post for the opening tally of the match.
Allison Traub made a save in the 15' for her only save of the half.  Cristina Flores missed a wide open chance in front of goal as her attempt would miss over the crossbar.  Regan Jackson had a shot saved in the 35'.
The Fleet could not muster a closer shot in the half as the Hawks led 1-0 at the intermission.
Second Half:
Allison Traub had to make an early save in the half before the Hawks had a flurry of attempts on cage.  Sabrina Henderson had two shots denied along with a shot by Cristina Flores that warranted a save.
The Hawks nearly made it 2-0 as a penalty kick missed wide.  Nicole Mejia had a chance at goal but was turned away.
Monae Moore had a dangerous shot saved by the Fleet in the 81'.  The offensive pressure continued for the Hawks late in the contest as Chowan was given a corner kick.  Sierra Gonzalez would find Nicole Mejia on the back post for a header that found the back of the net for a 2-0 advantage.
A lack-luster shot attempt towards goal by the Fleet was easily corralled by Allison Traub to conclude the match.

UP NEXT
