BELMONT, N.C. – Two first half goals by Carolina Lucci and the Chowan Women's Soccer team was not enough to slip past Belmont Abbey as the two battled to a 2-2 double overtime draw in league action on Friday afternoon.

Carolina Lucci scored two goals to bring her career total to 39 goals and move into second all-time in program history behind Hall of Fame member Ashley Bradford.
Allison Traub posted five saves in goal. Sierra Gonzalez and Sydney Henderson posted an assist each.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half:
Carolina Lucci forced a save in the 13' of action after Belmont Abbey posted a shot on frame.
Belmont Abbey benefited in the 25' as an initial save by Allison Traub found the foot of a Crusader on the rebound and find the back of the net.
The score did not hold long, 91 seconds to be exact, before Sierra Gonzalez found Carolina Lucci on a through ball from midfield. Lucci corralled the ball at the top of the box and chipped the attempt over the keeper for the equalizer.
Sabrina Henderson would win the ball near midfield allowing Sydney Henderson to take the ball up the right wing. Henderson slotted a ball over to Cristina Flores who played the ball up to Sydney Henderson again near the touch line. Henderson would slide the ball across the goal mouth to Carolina Lucci in the middle of the box for the 2-1 advantage in the 35'
The Hawks would head into the locker room with the advantage.
Second Half:
Allison Traub made two saves in the period before Belmont Abbey found the equalizer in the 78'.
Chowan looked for the counter-attack in the 83' as Sabrina Henderson had a pair of attempts saved down the stretch.
Neither team was able to find the back of the net at the end of regulation.
Overtime:
Carolina Lucci and Regan Jackson had shot attempts saved in the first overtime period for the only dangerous shots in the extra time.
