MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Women's Lacrosse team picked up their first win of the season by defeating Converse 15-6 at home in Conference Carolinas action on Saturday.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
Leia Cabradillia registered a career-high five goals and two assists to lead the Hawks.  Grace Taylor would register a career-high four goals.  Cabradillia and Taylor registered their first collegiate hat-tricks.
Jordan Nicholson tallied three points with two goals and an assist.  Charity Brown posted one goal and two assists, while Rebekah Lucas tallied one goal and one assist.
Kyra Jones posted seven caused turnovers and five ground balls.  Charity Brown collected six draw controls.
Mallory Dunker picked up the win in goal with 11 saves.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half:
Leia Cabradillia put the Hawks on the board with a free-position goal on the man-up opportunity.  45 seconds later, Grace Taylor found the back of the net on an unassisted goal to lead 2-0.
Converse would claw back into the contest with a pair of goals before Rebekah Lucas found Leia Cabradillia for a score.  Cabradillia posted another free-position goal along with a score from Brooke Woods-Pennell to lead 5-2 midway through the half.
After a Valkyries goal, Grace Taylor scored a man-up goal off the assist from Leia Cabradillia.  Cabradillia would offset a Converse goal grabbing the pass from Charity Brown off the draw control.
Charity Brown tallied an unassisted goal to give the Hawks an 8-5 lead at the intermission.
Second Half:
The Hawks continued to pepper the cage as Lela Knight and Brooke Woods-Pennell had shots saved before Grace Taylor slipped a shot past the keeper off an assist from Danielle Henry.
Rebekah Lucas and Kyra Jones posted a goal to lead 11-5 as Jordan Nicholson assisted on the Lucas tally.
Converse scored their lone tally on a man-up opportunity before Mallory Dunker and company shutout the Valkyries the final 20 minutes of the match.
Grace Taylor scored a free-position goal prior to Leia Cabradillia finding Jordan Nicholson for a man-up goal.  Cabradillia and Nicholson found the back of the net again down the stretch for the victory.

Chowan has two weeks off before traveling to Mount Olive on March 27.  Opening draw control is slated for 7pm.
