MURFREESBORO, N.C. – After scheduling adjustments with Hurricane Dorian approaching, the Chowan Men's Soccer team finally hits the pitch against Wingate.

Chowan was originally scheduled to compete in Winter Park, Fla. to face Rollins and Florida Tech on Sept. 5 and 7.

HAWKS HIGHLIGHTS
Chowan continues to move closer to the elusive NCAA Tournament bid after posting an 11-4-2 overall record last season.  The Hawks made a run late before falling in the Conference Carolinas Championship match against Limestone in the 108th minute.

The Hawks have battled tough with the Bulldogs in the past two seasons posting a 1-0-1 record picking up the win in 2017 (1-0), and a double overtime draw in 2018.

Trevin Myers, 2018 Conference Carolinas First Team selection, returns as the team's leading scorer with eight goals last season.  Mitchell Levi Lewis returns to anchor the midfield posting a school record 11 assists in 2018.  Conference Carolinas Defensive Player of the Year, Toby Sims, and Freshman of the Year, Harry Ardron, also return for the Hawks.

CAGING THE BULLDOGS
Wingate appeared in the NCAA Tournament for four straight seasons including winning the D2 National Championship in 2016, missed the postseason with an 8-6-1 overall record.  The Bulldogs defended home turf with a 6-0-1 record last season.

The Bulldogs return leading scorer, Elliot Cutts, after posting six goals last season.  Victor Spaggiari appeared in four matches last season in goal recording a 3-1 record.
