MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Women's Lacrosse team put up a strong fight on Saturday afternoon in Conference Carolinas action as the Hawks were turned away against Lees-McRae.

Misten White recorded a hat-trick with four goals. Leslie Escobar netted a hat-trick with three goals and added an assist.
Tashana Barnett scored twice, while Jordan Nicholson posted one goal and had two assists. Karly Timmons tallied two assists and Jasmine Latney recorded one.
Karly Timmons and Misten White posted six draw controls each.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half:
Lees-McRae scored three goals in the opening eight minutes of action to lead 3-0. Chowan answered with two goals over the next three minutes to trim the deficit to 3-2. Tashana Barnett put the Hawks on the board with a man-up goal. Karly Timmons found Misten White in the middle of the attacking error for a goal.
The Bobcats would score three more goals to lead 6-2 midway through the half. A pair of unassisted goals by Leslie Escobar and Misten White cut the deficit to 6-4.
Following a LMC goal, Jordan Nicholson found Misten White for a tally. Tashana Barnett found the back of the net in the final minute of the half to trail 7-6 at the break.
Second Half:
LMC would score to lead 8-6 before the Hawks soared back to even the contest at 8-all. Jasmine Latney and Karly Timmons found Jordan Nicholson and Leslie Escobar for goals.
The Bobcats would answer with three quick goals to maintain the momentum leading 11-8.
The Hawks would cut the deficit to one, 11-10, as Misten White scored off a Leslie Escobar assist. Escobar would score 25 seconds later off an assist from Jordan Nicholson.
Lees-McRae added an insurance goal with just over 10 minutes to play to take the victory 12-10.
