Knight Paces Hawks in Charleston Classic

CHARLESTON, S.C.- The Men's and Women's Cross Country teams competed at the Charleston Classic hosted by College of Charleston on Saturday morning.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

For the Men:
Division I, College or Charleston won the meet with a team score of 25. South Carolina State secured second place with a score of 74, while Savannah State placed third overall. 

The Hawks finished in eighth as a team with a score of 190 on Saturday.

Leading the individual field was Hayden Dibona from College of Charleston who clocked a time of 26:28.22. 

Pacing the Hawks was Rayvon McKoy who ran a time of 35:19.05 in the 8k. McKoy averaged a 7:06.4 minute mile to finish 37th overall.

Following McKoy was teammate, Timofey Tokmakov who crossed the line at 36:05.20 to finish 39th for Chowan.

Kevin Taylor posted a time of 36:23.51 to finish  in 40th in competition. 

Adi Kaliakperov and Dragon Omcikus recorded a 47:18.69 and 47:18.73 for the Blue and White respectively.

For the Women:
With a team score of 15, College of Charleston grabbed first place in the classic. Savannah State earned second place after posting a 91 team score while, Columbia International finished in third. 

Taking home first place for the women was Tess Masselink from College of Charleston after she ran a time of 18:29.74. 

Leading Chowan was Lela Knight who posted a 22:32.81 to finish 26th overall and 12th amongst Division II runners. Knight averaged a 7:15.0 minute mile for the Blue and White. 

After running a 26:16.85 Elizabeth Stokes finished in 38th overall. 

With a time of 30:50.88, Keyera Wilkerson placed 49th for the Hawks.

Also competing for Chowan was Eryka Harrison and Ravine Billy who finished in 56th and 57th respectively.

UP NEXT 

The Hawks will travel to Frederick, Md. to compete in the Hood College Open hosted by Hood College on Saturday, October 19th.
