HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half:
Lynzie Hulle kept the score level as Converse recorded a shot on frame in the fifth minute.
Shannon Park looked to put the Hawks on the board in the 11' as two header attempts were denied by the Valkyries' keeper.
Midway through the half, Lillian DeLucca and Stephanie Quintanilla had chances to find the back of the net but were saved.
In the 37', Sydney Henderson slotted a ball to the left side of the pitch to Carolina Lucci. Lucci would dribble around the Valkyries' defenders and find the bottom left corner of the goal for the 1-0 lead.
Second Half:
Chowan continued to find an insurance goal in the second half as Stephanie Quintanilla had an attempt sail over the crossbar and Sierra Gonzalez and Lillian DeLucca's attempts were saved.
Lynzie Hulle's other save came in the 61' to keep the clean sheet.
Carolina Lucci and Sabrina Henderson had attempts denied before the two teamed up for a goal. In the 66', Converse cleared the ball to midfield and fell at the foot of Asia Fort. Fort would play a through ball to the right side of the box, where Carolina Lucci slid the ball across the box to Sabrina Henderson for the easy tap-in goal.
A misplay by the Converse keeper in the 70' gave the Hawks an indirect free kick just outside the 6-yd box. The Valkyries covered the endline and blocked the attempt by Emily Trueman.
The Hawks would maintain possession to finish off the match.
