PETERSBURG, Va. –Chowan Women's Cross Country team soared in the Virginia State Fall Opener on Friday afternoon taking home second place. With unfortunate weather the men's race was canceled and will be rescheduled for a later date.

ON THE COURSE
The Hawks scored 50 points as a team to take second place. The Host, Virginia State won the team title with 38 points, while Shaw took home third.
Virginia State's Kyera Frank took home the title after posting a 21:09.0 course time.
The Hawks worked as a group and placed all five runners in the top 15. Sophomore,
Lela Knight took off at the gun for an early field lead to post a 23:19.0 5k time and place fourth overall.
Crossing the line for the Blue and White at 26:45.8 was
Deja King.
Not far behind was teammate
Elizabeth Stokes posting a 27:09.7 who placed 12
th overall.
Genesis Oliver and
Keyera Wilkerson crossed the tape in 13
th and 14
th place respectively. Oliver ran a 28:234, while Wilkerson recorded a 28:26.
