WINGATE, N.C.- The Chowan Women's Tennis remarkable season came to a close in the NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Southeast Region Tournament on Saturday morning as Wingate defeated the Hawks 5-1 in their first time apperance in the Southeast Region. The Bulldogs will move on to face the No.3 seed Georgia College and No.6 seed North Georgia match winner.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In Doubles:
The Bulldogs grabbed the No.2 doubles match 8-1 over
Hanna Tarlouskaya and
Victoria Smolchenkova.Â
Lenka Styblova and
Angelique Gouin was unable to secure the No.2 doubles match from Wingate 8-2.Â
The Hawks recovered at the No.1 doubles position when
Polina Novachuk and
Cynthia Carrier defeated their opponent 8-5.Â
In Singles:
With a 2-1 lead for Wingate into singles play, the Hawks and Bulldogs battled back and forth for each singles set.
Lenka Styblova picked up the first set at the No. 5 singles, while teammate
Victoria Smolchenkova evened the No.4 set score 1-1 after take the 6-3 second set win.Â
Angelique Gouin dropped the No.6 singles 6-1, 6-0 before
Polina Novachuk slipped at the No.1 singles match 6-1, 6-1.
Wingate secured the match win with the No.3 singles 6-1, 6-2 victory overÂ
