FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA. – The Chowan Women's Lacrosse team evened their record in the regular season finale victory over Conference Carolinas foe Emmanuel on Friday afternoon.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
The Hawks used a strong second half to down the Lions outscoring Emmanuel 9-4 in the final 30 minutes of action.
Mallory Dunker was solid in goal to move to 6-1 on the year. Dunker recorded 10 saves.
Leslie Escobar led the team with six points scoring three goals and assisting on three others. Heather Orell and Alexandria Hammonds scored four times each.
Tashana Barnett netted a hat-trick, while Misten White came off the bench and scored twice.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half:
Tashana Barnett started off the back and forth scoring in the opening half with a man-up goal just 34 seconds into the contest.
Emmanuel would counter with two goals before Jasmine Latney evened the score with a free position goal. Leslie Escobar regained the lead for the Hawks on an unassisted tally.
Heather Orell extended the lead to 4-2 before Alexandria Hammonds swapped a goal with Emmanuel.
Tashana Barnett pushed the lead to 6-4 on a free position goal as Emmanuel evened the score at six with 8:41 remaining in the half.
Heather Orell and Alexandria Hammonds would tally a goal to end the half to send the contest into the break at an eight all tie.
Second Half:
Heather Orell put the Hawks out front in the second half with an unassisted goal. Three quick goals by the Hawks pushed the advantage to 12-8. Leslie Escobar tallied two goals and an assist during the run. Tashana Barnett scored on the Escobar assist.
Emmanuel would look to cut into the deficit but Alexandria Hammonds kept pace with the Lions with two goals to keep the advantage at four, 14-10, midway through the closing half.
Following a two-goal swing by the Lions, Heather Orell pushed the advantage back to three, 15-12.
Misten White would come off the bench to score the next two goals for the Hawks to seal the victory.

Chowan secured the fifth seed in the Conference Carolinas Women's Lacrosse Championship. The Hawks will travel to Tigerville, S.C. to face North Greenville in the quarterfinals on Wednesday, April 25.
