LAUREL, Md. – The Chowan Women's Bowling team picked up a 1-3 record on the opening day of the CIAA Event I hosted by Bowie State on Friday evening.

INSIDE THE LANES
Baylee Laxton led the team with a 175.6 average with a team high of 187 in the second and fifth match.
L'leah Laing posted a 125.6 day one average after recording a 158 personal best in the first match of the day against Bowie State.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Chowan dropped the opening match 818-618 to host Bowie State.
Baylee Laxton led the Hawks in the match with a score of 166 while
L'leah Laing was close behind posting a 158 for the Blue and White.
Virginia Union handed the Hawks their second loss of the event by a close score of 677-652.
Chowan recovered in match three as they beat Elizabeth City State 699-585. The Hawks' 699 pin fall count was the highest team total for CU.
Virginia State dropped the Hawks to 1-3 in the event with a score of 720-648.
