Richmond, Va. – The Chowan Bowling team notched a 1-3 record on the opening day of the CIAA Event II hosted by Virginia State on Friday.

Kailah Herbin led the Hawks with a 140.0 average with a team high 158 and 159 in the fourth and fifth matches.
Raven Finley-Flowers posted a 136.80 for Chowan with a match high 146 in the second and third matches .
The Hawks tallied a 321.9 average on the opening day.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Chowan opened the event with a 618-598 victory over Elizabeth City State.
Jasmine Basnight led the Blue and White with a score of 149.
Virginia Union handed the Hawks their first loss of the tournament by a score of 706-617.
Bowie State dropped the Hawks to 1-2 in day one with a score of 808-707. The Hawks' 707 pin fall count was the highest team total for CU.
Virginia State finished off the event with a win over Chowan 744-647.
