GAFFNEY, S.C. – The Chowan Women's Soccer team was handed their first loss of the season by nationally ranked Limestone, 4-1, on the road in Conference Carolinas play.

Carolina Lucci found the back of the net for the fourth time this week and ninth time on the season for the Hawks' lone goal in the match. Lucci recorded three shots all on goal.
Olivia Borer made five saves on the afternoon as the Saints outshot the Hawks 16-4.
HOW IT HAPPENED
1st Half
Chowan recorded a corner in the 6' of action but was unable to find anyone in the box to record a shot.
Limestone went on the attack as the Saints found the back of the net in the 17' for the early 1-0 advantage.
The Hawks recorded their first shot attempt of the contest at the 28:36 mark of the first half as Sierra Gonzalez' attempt sailed high.
Carolina Lucci found herself in a little bit of space but a sliding attempt could not get past the diving Saints keeper.
In the 41', an attempted clear out by the keeper was partially blocked by a Saint attacker allowing Limestone to take a 2-0 lead into the locker room.
2nd Half
Limestone added on to their lead in the 52' as a corner kick found the head of a Saints attacker for the 3-0 lead.
The Hawks looked to counter in the 54' as Carolina Lucci tallied a shot on target but was saved.
The Saints attack continued in the 69' grabbing a 4-0 advantage off a corner kick.
Carolina Lucci would not allow the Hawks to be shutout as the freshman dribbled down the left side and beat her defender slotting the shot under the diving keeper in the 87'.

Chowan travels to Lincoln, Pa. to face the Lions of Lincoln in a non-conference match on Wednesday, October 4. The Hawks picked up a convincing win in their last meeting winning 8-0.
