FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.- The Chowan Men's and Women's Cross Country team finished fourth and seventh respectively at the 2017 Methodist University Monarch Classic on Saturday morning.

HOW IT HAPPENED
For the Women

• Freshman Lela Knight led the way with a ninth place finish trekking the 6k course in 29:12.77
• Elizabeth Stokes picked up a 35^th place finish with a time of 35:12.72 while teammate Raven Finley-Flowers completed the course in 39:01.07 for a 45^th place finish.
• Chasity Henderson (52)and Kiona Purvis (64)also competed for the Blue and White.

For the Men

• With a team score of 141 Ghassan Alansi paced the Hawks with a 33:23.36 course time and placed 21^st in a field of 55.
• George Kattan and Jalen Thomas pushed each other for a 28^th and 29^th place finish respectively. Kattan completed the 8k in 35:31.48 while Thomas crossed the line in 35:43.26
• Kevin Taylor also took the course for Chowan to place 33^rd with a 37:01.21 finish time.
• Sadiq Amzat rounded out the scoring for the Hawks with a 40:27.83 course time.
