Hawks Women's Soccer Draws To Open Season

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. - The Chowan Women's Soccer program opened the season unbeaten as the Hawks and Florida Southern post a scoreless double overtime draw to open the season in a neutral contest.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
Chowan recorded nine shots with six shots on target.  Sydney Henderson and Rebekah Langley tallied two shots apiece on frame.
The back-line for the Hawks showed toughness keeping the ball out of the back of the net.  Florida Southern posted 19 shots with 12 of those on frame.
Olivia Borer was a wall between the pipes recording 11 saves to preserve the clean sheet.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Florida Southern was aggressive to start the match recording six shots in the first 12 minutes of play.  Olivia Borer made two saves during that span.
Rebekah Langley recorded the first shot on frame for the Hawks in the 17' but was saved by the Mocs keeper.
In the 22' Sydney Henderson posted a shot on frame but was denied by the keeper.
Chowan came out aggressive in the second half grabbing back-to-back corners in the 62'.  Rebekah Langley was denied of a scoring attempt by the Mocs keeper.
Florida Southern's best opportunity of the contest came in the 75' when FSC's Crowder ripped a shot off Olivia Borer and was cleared away.
Neither squad was able to push forward in the overtime period before settling for a scoreless draw.

UP NEXT
Chowan will return home on September 9 to open the Conference Carolinas schedule against Emmanuel.  Kick-off is slated for 12pm.
