CU Women's Soccer Remarkable Season Comes To A Close

GAFFNEY, S.C. – The Chowan Women's Soccer remarkable season came to a close in the Conference Carolinas Semifinals on Thursday evening as Lees-McRae defeated the Hawks 1-0.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE

Chowan outshot the Bobcats 13-8 but LMC gained the advantage with 6-4 on target shots.

Olivia Borer recorded five saves in the loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED

1st Half:

Sierra Gonzalez notched the first shot for the Hawks in the second minute of action but was blocked and earned a corner kick for CU.

In the 8', Mackenzie Imamura took a free kick from outside the box and tried to connect with Sabrina Henderson but came up just short.

The Hawks had chances in the 35' as Sabrina Henderson and Marissa Speary had shots that sailed wide.  Keanu Lettley had the best look at cage but was saved defensively.

In the 42', Lees-McRae notched a corner kick.  Olivia Borer came out and punched the ball away but went straight to a Bobcat attacker.  LMC would finish the chance for the lone tally of the match.

2nd Half:

The Hawks were granted a free kick early in the half but Mackenzie Imamura sailed her attempt just high.

Midway through the half, Rebekah Langley's attempt was saved by Defensive Player of the Year, Alexis Feely.  Marissa Speary notched another shot but blocked.

The Hawks were unable to push forward enough to register another shot on frame.

Sierra Gonzalez was named to the Conference Carolinas All-Tournament Team.
