FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Chowan Bowling team dropped four matches on the opening day of the CIAA Event I hosted by Fayetteville State on Friday.

INSIDE THE LANES
Leslie Maloney led the team with a 124.4 average with a team high 135 in the fourth match.
Jasmine Miles posted a 122.5 with a match high 129 in the fifth.
The Hawks tallied a 285.6 average on the opening day.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Chowan opened the event with a close match against Elizabeth City State falling 578-570. Leslie Maloney led the Hawks in the match with a score of 121. Jasmine Miles (120) and Kailah Herbin (118) were the top four for the Hawks.
Bowie State handed the Hawks their second loss of the event by a score of 921-592. The Hawks' 592 pin fall count was the highest team total for CU.
Virginia State dropped the Hawks to 0-3 in the event with a score of 733-582. Jasmine Basnight tallied her match high in the match with a 131.
Virginia Union finished off the event with a win over Chowan 736-553.
