Box Score SPARTANBURG, SC- The Chowan University women's soccer team came up short in a 1-0 decision against Converse College on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks move to 2-5 on the season with the setback while the Valkyries improve to 4-3-1 on the year with the win.
Converse tallied 21 shots in the first half of play, while holding the Chowan Blue and White to three shots and one corner. Cassidy Marshall found the back of the net two minutes before the halftime break after heading Nicole Doolittle's pass past Chowan's keeper, giving Converse a 1-0 edge.
Chowan and Converse battled through the final 45 minutes of play with neither team able to score, resulting in the narrow 1-0 setback for the Hawks.
The Hawks tallied eight shots over the course of the competition.

Christine Chubb, and
Harriett Pallett each recorded two shots for Chowan with
Olivia Borer notching 16 saves in goal.
The Valkyries accounted for 35 shots in the victory. Doolittle led all players in the contest with six shots followed by Emily Barry with five shots. Mariah Rowdy made two saves in goal to earn the shutout win for Converse.
Chowan returns to action on September 27
th as the Hawks travel to take on Washington Adventist University. Game time is slated for 4:00pm.
